The nonprofit Friends of PAC organization raised over $12,000 in donations during the month of July in support of the Pinedale Aquatic Center and its programs. On Wednesday, July 14, Friends of PAC participated in the 2nd WyoGives Day, a statewide day of giving which raised over $2.2 Million dollars for the 192 enrolled organizations. Friends of PAC’s donors gave generously, much of which was matched by the Hughes Charitable Foundation and Jack & Carole Nunn, resulting in a total of $6,897.44.
On Saturday, July 17, Friends of PAC held their 3rd Great Pine Creek Duck Derby during the Wind River Mountain Festival. A total of 1,047 rubber ducks were adopted, and the race took place at 5pm, just prior to the Pinedale Fine Arts Council’s Soundcheck Concert. First across the finish line was the speedy yellow duck of Symon Carpenter, who won $200 for his big win. 2nd place ($100) went to Katharine Collins, and the Ugly Duckling (last place) award went to Dorothy Fornstrom. Volunteers of all ages joined in the fun to help shepherd the giant yellow flotilla down a very skinny Pine Creek, and others netted the little guys as they bobbed past the finish line. Jorgensen Associates was the returning sponsor, and Wyoming Game & Fish’s Kris Holmes facilitated the duck capture operation. Duck sales brought in more than $5,500. Overall, it was a splashing success!
